Gill sailing boots are a favourite in dinghy parks up and down the country, and usually the first proper bit of kit a new sailor buys. They keep your feet warm, protect your toes on the slipway and give you the grip you need when you're hiking hard or moving around the boat. Choose from zip, lace and slip on designs below.
The right boot depends on how you sail. The lace up Edge gives you adjustable ankle support, which helps when you spend long beats on the toe straps. The zipped Aero is quick to get on and off with cold hands. The Aquatech is a simple, good value boot for training, club sailing and juniors.
Look for a snug fit, a sole that grips a wet deck and enough padding across the top of the foot for the toe straps. In winter, pair your boots with Gill neoprene or thermal socks. You'll find the rest of the kit in our Gill sailing clothing collection, or compare every brand in sailing boots.

Which Gill sailing boots are best for dinghy sailing?
For hiking boats, the lace up Edge is the pick, because you can tighten it for ankle support on the toe straps. The zipped Aero is a great all rounder that is easy to pull on. For beginners, juniors and training sessions, the Aquatech does everything you need at a lower price.
How should Gill sailing boots fit?
Snug but not tight. Your toes should reach the end without curling, and your heel shouldn’t lift when you walk. Loose boots fill with water and feel heavy. If you plan to wear neoprene or thermal socks in winter and you’re between sizes, go for the larger size.
How do I look after my sailing boots?
Rinse them inside and out with fresh water after every sail, then leave them to dry naturally, away from radiators and direct sun. Undo zips and laces fully so air can get in. Rinse zips carefully after salt water, as dried salt is what makes them stick.
