Whether you're rolling your dinghy across a sandy beach, a concrete slipway, or a rough shingle bank, the right launching trolley wheels make all the difference. At Sailing Chandlery, we stock a full range of launching trolley wheels to suit every surface and every boat, from Optimists and Toppers through to RS800s, Wayfarers and smaller catamarans.
Choose from our heavy-duty 4-ply pneumatic wheels, which outlast cheaper 2-ply alternatives and handle uneven terrain with ease, our lightweight puncture-proof foam wheels, ideal for smooth jetties and slipways, or our wide-profile balloon wheels, designed for soft sand where standard wheels sink and struggle. Most of our wheels fit the standard 25mm (1 inch) axle found on the majority of dinghy launching trolleys.

What size dinghy trolley wheels am I likely to need?
Most dinghy trolleys use an inflatable pneumatic wheel which has a tyre size of 4.8 0/4.00-8 and a centre hole of 25mm.
Should buy inflatable dinghy trolley wheels or puncture proof wheels?
This depends on your most common sailing location. Puncture proof wheels can be quite hard so if on bumpy surfaces these won't be great and an inflatable option might be best. If the ground is smooth a puncture proof option will be fine.
What is the difference between a normal pneumatic tyre and the heavy duty option?
The difference is the tyre size. The heavy duty tyres are wider and have more grip, they are great for launching of larger dinghies or on the beach.
What ply dinghy tyres should I buy?
We always recommend 4 ply tyres, they are far better and will last longer. A 2 ply dinghy tyre might be cheaper but one incident with a sharp stone or bramble will give you a puncture and ruin your days sailing. Invest in your tyres and always buy quality 4 ply tyres for your sailing dinghy.
