Purchasing from Sailing Chandlery

Sailing Chandlery and Dinghy Rope are trading names of Sailing Chandlery Ltd which is an independently owned company providing a range of services.

Sailing Chandlery provide a marine chandlery service through this website www.sailingchandlery.com and in person from our Canvey Island showroom.

General

Your use of and purchase of products from this site is governed by the terms and conditions set out below.

We may at any time make changes to this site and the details displayed on it (including prices) without prior notice.

Placing an Order

We’ve made placing an order with Sailing Chandlery as easy as possible. Browse by category or search our website to find the product you are looking for. When you find the product you are looking for simply select the relevant options (such as colour, quantity etc) and click Add to Cart. Some quantities are in metres, some are by item.

Wherever you are on our site, you can add items to your cart in the same way.

You can check which items you have in your cart and the total cost at any time by clicking on the cart/bag area in the top right of all pages.

You can remove items from your cart or alter the quantity required at any time directly from the cart.

We try to keep our postage costs as low as possible; postage and packing costs will be shown in the shopping cart.

Click the Checkout button when you have finished shopping, you can check out quickly and securely using your debit/credit card by PayPal and through other options. You can also phone us to make payment.

If you prefer not to place an order online you can phone us on 01268 222912.

It is your responsibility to ensure the rope or product you are ordering is fit for purpose. Please note none of our products should be used for climbing.

We can take no responsibility for items if you provide an incorrect address, no refunds will be provided if this is the case.

Pricing

All prices for UK orders include VAT.

Orders going outside the UK exclude VAT and local taxes and import fees may need paying on arrival of your items. All prices are subject to alteration with no prior notice.
Promotions, special offer prices and prices below our RRP are strictly subject to availability.

We are based in the UK, if you are ordering from outside the UK you may be required to pay tax, duty or import fees on your items. In some instances this will be collected by the courier before delivery. If you choose not to pay this and the items are returned to us we may charge you a 50% restocking fee.

If you fail to pay customs or import charges resulting in the items being returned to us the sender we can no longer take any responsibility for your items. If the items are returned back to us we may charge a restocking fee. If you would like the items delivered again, you will need to pay for the shipping cost.

Promotions

We offer one main promotion which is 10% off your first order when you sign up for our newsletter. This is only available online, through our website, and only for first time customers with us. However, we do run a very favourable rewards scheme for existing customers where points are collected when purchasing, these can then be cashed in during your next order.

Changing Your Order

Should you wish to edit or change your order after it has been placed, send us an email or phone us as soon as possible. Providing the order has not been dispatched we will be able to make the change. Please note this may cause a delay in the delivery of your order.

Cancel My Order

Should you wish to cancel your order after it has been placed, simply send us an email or phone us (phone is best for speed). Providing the order has not been cut and dispatched or completed we will be able to cancel the order and issue a refund.

If you have placed an order and not followed instructions and information we have provided we may choose to charge a restocking fee or only partially refund you and deduct the transaction fees we have to pay. This includes purchasing boats and boat packages without considering the delivery factor of such a large item.

Postage and Shipping

We aim to dispatch orders as quickly as possible, usually the same working day if ordered before midday Monday to Friday. Please choose a relevant delivery address, we can deliver to your home or work address if required. We have an option to provide different shipping and billing addresses.

Please also check your address and details on the order confirmation, if the address is incorrect and your item has been shipped we may have to charge you for shipping again if the item gets returned to us.

We use Royal Mail standard package postage for the large majority of our orders. Larger items over 2kg or of an awkward size such as 100m reels will be delivered by courier.

Long items such as mast sections incur an extra delivery fee due to their size/length.

Boats cannot be shipped, they have to be hand delivered or collected, please get in touch for a quote before purchasing. We cannot deliver boats outside the UK but you can arrange a shipping agent to collect the boat.

If delivered by courier a signature may be required.

Please note we can take no responsibility for the product when in the hands of our delivery partners, some Royal Mail postman/postwomen do not take notice of special instructions for packages such as 'leave by the side gate'.

Our delivery partners will attempt delivery a number of times, if you are not available to accept the delivery it may be taken to a local sorting office or may be returned to us. If the item is returned to us at Sailing Chandlery we will have to charge you for shipping again.

Please note, our Royal Mail services are sometimes untracked, if you would like the peace of mind of a tracked service please select a courier option.

We can take no responsibility for an item not being delivered on time, while we work hard to ensure we partner with the best companies sometimes a delivery on time is not possible by our partners. If any items are missing Sailing Chandlery needs to be notified with in 24 hours of receiving the parcel.

The team at Sailing Chandlery work hard to keep shipping prices as low as possible by packing smartly and using the best supplier for the job.

Warranty Claims

Unfortunately, sometimes warranty claims are needed. If a product is within its warranty period and there is an issue we are happy to speak to and pass on the relevant details to the product manufacturer or the distributor we purchased the product through originally.

It is their responsibility to advise on the warranty process, review the details and provide an answer. Sailing Chandlery are in no way responsible for the warranty of products but will help you in getting an answer from the correct company.

If you have chosen to leave the country we will not ship items to your new location, we will only send replacements to UK addresses. You will be responsible for additional shipping charges.

If a warranty is agreed but you would like a refund the original item must be returned to us before the refund is issued.

Limitation on Liability

In no event will Sailing Chandlery or Sailing Chandlery Ltd or any of its subsidiaries be liable in any way for any direct, indirect, special or consequential damages occurring in any part from the use of this site, or on any other hyperlinked web site, including, without limitation, any lost profits, business interruption, loss of programs or other data on your information handling system or otherwise, even if Dinghy Rope/Sailing Chandlery is expressly advised of the possibility of such damages.
