Product Information

  • Gill Aero 2.0 Boot - Black

Some days you want to get changed and get afloat without wrestling with laces in a cold car park. The Gill Aero 2.0 is the warm, easy option in Gill's boot range: a YKK zip runs down the side so you can get in and out quickly, even with numb fingers.

The upper is 5mm double-lined neoprene, a millimetre thicker than the Edge 2.0, which makes this the warmer of the two for winter sailing and long days on a committee boat. Glued and blindstitched seams keep water ingress down so the warmth stays where it should.

A wide adjustable ankle strap sits over the zip to take the load off the closure and hold the foot steady, so the boot does not shift about when you are moving around the boat. Underfoot is a medium-stiff sole, which is the key difference from the Edge: more flex and more comfort for walking, launching, coaching and general dinghy sailing, but less of the rigid platform that hard hiking demands.

The natural rubber sole wraps around the boot for grip and durability and is non-marking, so it will not leave scuffs across a foredeck or a clubhouse floor. There is moulded textured reinforcement across the bridge for better contact with hiking straps, and the rear ankle has been reworked for more flexibility when you walk.

Worth knowing: like most new rubber soles, these can feel slippery for the first few outings until the surface scuffs in. If you sail a skiff and want maximum grip and support from the outset, look at the Edge 2.0 instead.
