Which brands of Sailing Boots do you sell?
At Sailing Chandlery we sell sailing boots from Gill, Rooster and Zhik. We find these to be the most popular amoung sailors and sell a selection of sailing boots from those brands.
Are tall sailing boots or ankle boots better?
This depends on your type of sailing. For gentle days on the water or cruising a pair of ankle sailing boots will be fine. Taller boots have many advantages the two main ones being more support for your feet which is helpful when hiking, and also they help to keep debris out of your sailing boots.
Which sailing boots offer better support for dinghy hiking?
A taller pair of dinghy sailing boots will offer more support for hiking. You want a pair of sailing boots which has protection across the front to cope with the wear of the hiking strap, and also a pair of boots with a large ankle strap to ensure your feet are supported when hiking.
How should I look after my sailing boots?
We recommend avoiding walking for distances on hard surfaces, rinsing them with fresh water after every sail and leaving your sailing boots to dry out of the sunlight.
Do sailing boot soles wear out quickly?
Sailing boot soles are slightly softer than a traditional pair of shoes, they are designed to be non marketing and gentle to the boats deck whilst also providing you with grip in wet conditions. To keep your dinghy sailing boots in the best condition we recommend not wearing them when you don't need to. If you are walking around your club constantly on concrete they won't last as long, if you limit exposure to walking they'll last longer.
