Sailing Chandlery Open Day.- April 2026 | Sailing Chandlery

There is a specific kind of magic that happens in early April. The frost is finally losing its grip, the days are stretching out, and if you listen closely, you can hear the rhythmic "clink-clink-clink" of halyards against masts in the boatyard. For those of us who live for the water, this isn’t just springtime - it’s fitting-out season.

At Sailing Chandlery, we know exactly how that feels. We know the itch to get the covers off, the satisfaction of a freshly polished hull, and the excitement of finally replacing that frayed mainsheet you’ve been eyeing all winter.

To celebrate the return of the season and the incredible community that makes our sport what it is, Sailing Chandlery are opening our doors for a special event. Whether you’re a hardened offshore racer, a weekend dinghy sailor, or someone who just bought their first boat and isn’t quite sure which end is the bow yet, the Sailing Chandlery Open Day is for you.

the big event: when & Where

Mark your calendars and set your reminders!

We’re hosting a Sailing Chandlery Open Day right here at our home base. It’s a short, sharp burst of sailing socialising designed to get you pumped for the months ahead.

  • Date: Saturday, April 11th

  • Time: 09:00 AM - 1:00 PM

  • Location: Units 3-4 Queensway House, Canvey Island, SS8 0QY

  • Google Maps Link: Sailing Chandlery

It’s four hours of pure sailing talk, gear browsing, and community spirit. We’ve timed the Sailing Chandlery Open Day perfectly so you can drop by, get inspired, and still have the rest of your Saturday to head down to the club or get stuck into your own boat maintenance.

If you're a regular around these parts, you'd know that we aren't usually open on weekends, so now is the perfect time to:

  • Get tactile with our products in person.
  • Try things on and get the perfect fit.
  • Compare the latest gear to your current favourites in person.
  • See how you can upgrade your kit this season with our expert advice.

why you should drop by the sailing chandlery open day

You might be thinking, "I can just order my rope and shackles from Sailing Chandlery online, why head down in person?" While we love our online customers, there’s something irreplaceable about the tactile experience of a chandlery and the face-to-face connection of the sailing world.

1. get your hands on the latest gear

The world of sailing tech moves fast. From the latest breakthroughs in high-modulus rope fibres to the newest buoyancy aids and foul-weather gear, there is a lot to see. The Sailing Chandlery Open Day is the perfect opportunity to:

  • Touch and feel the fabrics: Is that new spray top actually breathable? How does that lifejacket feel when you’re actually wearing it?

  • See the "New for 2026" ranges: Be the first to check out the hardware and apparel that will be hitting the racecourses this summer.

  • Ask the technical questions: Not sure if you should upgrade to a 2:1 purchase system? The Sailing Chandlery team can walk you through the mechanics right then and there.

2. chat with the Sailing Chandlery Team

Here at Sailing Chandlery, we aren’t just "shopkeepers" - we are sailors. Between us, we’ve clocked up thousands of miles in everything from high-performance skiffs to cruising yachts. We’ve faced the same gear failures, the same rigging dilemmas, and the same "why won't this knot hold?" frustrations that you have.

We’ll be on hand all morning to chat. Need advice on your specific rig? Want to talk about the best way to splice Dyneema? Or maybe you just want to debate the best tactics for the upcoming season? We’re all ears!

3. connect with the local community

Sailing can sometimes feel like a solitary pursuit when you’re working on your boat in the driveway, but it’s the community that makes it a lifestyle. The Sailing Chandlery Open Day is a hub for local sailors from across Canvey Island, the Thames Estuary, and beyond.

It’s a chance to:

  • Meet potential crew or find a new helm.

  • Share tips on local cruising spots or upcoming regattas.

  • Swap "war stories" from the last season, or winter series.

kickstarting your 2026 season with sailing chandlery

We chose April 11th for a reason. By mid-April, the first major events of the year are just around the corner. It’s that "crunch time" where you realise you’re missing a specific block or your hiking straps have seen better days.

Coming to the Sailing Chandlery Open Day is the perfect way to perform a "sanity check" on your kit. Sometimes, seeing a new piece of hardware triggers a memory of something that broke last September. Getting sorted now means you won't be scrambling on the morning of your first race.

PRO TIP: Make a list before you come down. Those little things on your boat that didn't quite work as well last season. Bring it along, and the Sailing Chandlery team can help you find the best solution and help you smash the new season.

can't make it down to sailing chandlery?

We know life gets busy, especially when there are boats to be prepped! If you can't make it down to us here at Sailing Chandlery on the 11th April, don't worry - you can still stay in the loop, and shop online!

We’ll be posting updates, highlighting new products, and sharing photos from the event on our social media. Give us a follow on Facebook @sailingchandlery to stay updated on everything we’re doing. It’s also the best place to find the full event details and RSVP, so we know you're coming down.

a note from the team at sailing chandlery

At the end of the day, Sailing Chandlery exists because we love the water. We love the feeling of a boat finding its groove, the sound of the wind in the sails, and the camaraderie of the boat park. This Sailing Chandlery Open Day isn't just about "selling stuff" - it's about celebrating the start of another year of adventure.

We’ve worked hard to curate the best selection of gear from the world's leading brands, and we can’t wait to show you what we’ve got in store for the 2026 season.

So, whether you're looking for a specific shackle, a whole new rig, or just a bit of sailing-themed Saturday morning chat, we’d love to see you.

Let’s make 2026 the best season yet. See you on April 11th!
