If your boat lives on a trailer, goes home after every sail or gets packed away for the winter, a flat mast down dinghy cover is the one to choose. With the mast out, the cover sits snug over the hull and cockpit with no poles or sleeves to work around, so it goes on in a minute and stays put on the road.
Every cover here is made in the UK by us and cut to the shape of the class, from single handers like the Laser and Solo through to the Wayfarer and GP14. Each one comes in heavy duty 460gsm PVC in blue or grey, or in our breathable AquaMax fabric, which lets air move through the cover so less moisture sits against the boat.
Soft webbing straps run under the hull to protect the gelcoat, clips hold everything tight and there are no strings or eyelets on show. PVC covers carry a 5 year guarantee and AquaMax covers 3 years. Pick your boat, choose your material and colour, and we’ll make it to order.
If your boat stays rigged in the dinghy park, take a look at our mast up dinghy covers or over boom dinghy covers instead.

What is a flat mast down dinghy cover?
It’s a top cover made to fit the boat with the mast taken out. It lies flat across the hull and cockpit and fastens underneath, which makes it the simplest cover to fit and the best choice for trailing, roof racking or storing the boat with the rig off over winter.
Can I use a flat cover with the mast still up?
No. A mast down cover has no opening for the mast, so it won’t go on with the rig stepped. If you leave your mast up between sails, you want a mast up cover, which has a sleeve or opening for the mast, or an over boom cover if the boom stays on too.
Is the cover safe to tow with?
Yes. Straps run under the hull and clip tight, and there’s a tie down at the transom, so the cover stays in place at road speed. Pull every strap snug before you set off and check them again at your first stop, as PVC can settle a little once it warms up.
Should I choose PVC or AquaMax?
PVC is the tougher, lower priced option and the one most sailors go for. AquaMax is a breathable fabric that reduces condensation and heat under the cover, so it suits boats that stay covered for long spells. If the boat is out in the open all season, AquaMax is worth the extra.
How long does a made to order cover take?
Our covers are made to order in the UK with an estimated lead time of 10 to 20 working days. Each product page shows the stock message for the option you’ve picked, so you’ll see straight away whether yours is held in stock or being made for you.
