In 2016 we first took on Zhik clothing and have been selling it since through our online chandlery website and also at the various shows and sailing events we have attended.
Zhik have a good range of sailing wetsuits available for all of the UK seasons, whether the sun actually shines, or whether you are battling the colder conditions while winter sailing.
Zhik accessories are also designed to complement the wetsuits and clothing range. For example, in the winter you could add a pair of Superwarm socks and a beanie hat, and in the summer you could add a rather cool looking Zhik visor.
For years Zhik have been leading the way with their clothing, wetsuits and accessories. They are used by Olympic and World Champions around the globe and they have an impressive list of team sailors wearing and marketing the kit. The new yacht and ocean sailing ranges are being worn onboard Dongfeng and AkzoNobel. Both teams have been testing and feeding back to the Zhik design team during their training.
The key thing about Zhik is they use the best materials and are always pushing the boundaries of what's possible. We've seen this over the years with them winning various awards including DAME awards at the Marine Trade Show for the past two years. Those products were the Avlare top and in 2017 the new Isotak ocean sailing jacket.
The two main wetsuit ranges for the UK are Microfleece and Superwarm. Microfleece uses 1mm thick neoprene and Superwarm is much thicker for colder conditions, or longer days on the water. They both have excellent features such as the LooRip for men, hardwearing backside and knees and the Superwarm uses SuperStretch neoprene. Both of these are designed to be used while layering with other clothing and accessories. For example, the Microfleece goes very well with a Titanium (currently on clearance sale) or Orspan top. Add a hydrophobic fleece top as a base layer and you'll be very comfortable and warm.
2018 will see a shake up of their wetsuit products with the introduction of a new more budget range which we'll have on display at the RYA Dinghy Show in March. This will be the introduction of a new V range which is more suited to club racers where the X range is very similar to the current Superwarm and Microfleece products and will continue with slight variations. There will also be other new products coming such as Superwarm Gloves, Dinghy Smock and a range of normal sailing gloves.
Explore what we have in stock from the Zhik Clothing Wetsuits and Accessories range.
We're always happy to have a talk through of the kit over the phone if that's easier for you.

My favourite rope for splicing
Solid folding lock knife, this is my third one (dropped the last and the first I had for over 6 years).
Looks like it will be good at cutting rope, I've only ever used it for cutting cheese...
we order some stainless beta pins, good price and very quick delivery.
Zhik described this range as medium waterproofness. Unsure what this means and whether I need a spare set of gear for stronger weather. Not convinced but it fits well and it’s a good make. Would be good to see a long term review
The Inglefield clip was invented by Lieutenant Edward Inglefield RN in the 1890s, it has been standard issue to British warships since 1895.
The idea was to make a reliable and fast way of assembling a hoist of signal flags, which they do very well.
I have had a long involvement with these clips, mostly for flags, but they have other uses, for example the West Lancashire Seabird One Design (a half rater) use the clips for their spinnaker halyard attachment to the sail, and I have seen a big version cut out of steel plate for a special job.
The standard clips are made from brass, these medium size nylon ones are clearly not as strong as brass, but they are good for small flags.
A further advantage is the avoidance of metallic stains on the bunting.
I don't think they would be strong enough for a big flag in windy conditions, but that isnt what i purchased them for.

Buoyancy aid arrived nice and quickly, and a nice little park of love heart sweets. Haven’t had chance to sail in it yet, but it’s a nice fit and great quality. Should be testing it out this Sunday.
