Roosters development of the watersport Aquafleece material revolutionised the standard spray top and they continue to innovate new Aquafleece® products. The fabric has a Polyurethane coating on the outside for water resistance, durability and flexibility combined with a fleece inner layer to keep you snug and warm - a combination that works well when wet or dry.
The Rooster Aquafleece is a popular addition to your kit bag and you'll see plenty of dinghy sailors choosing the Aquafleece as their top layer of sailing clothing.

What is a Rooster Aquafleece?
A Rooster Aquafleece is a sailing top that does the job of a spray top and a fleece in one layer. The stretchy polyurethane outer blocks wind and spray, while the bonded fleece lining holds in warmth. It is a favourite with dinghy sailors because it is warm, flexible and comfortable to move in.
What is the difference between the Rooster Classic Aquafleece and the Pro Lite Aquafleece?
Both use the same lighter weight Aquafleece fabric with untaped seams, so warmth is similar. The difference is in the seals and fit. The Classic has a slim cut with simple elasticated cuffs and hem. The Pro Lite adds adjustable neoprene wrist and waist seals, which keep more water out when you are hiking hard.
Is the Rooster Aquafleece waterproof?
The Aquafleece fabric itself is waterproof and windproof, so spray and rain run straight off the outer. On the Classic and Pro Lite the seams are not taped, which keeps them lighter and more breathable but lets a little water through the stitching in a real soaking. Think of them as a warm spray top, not a drysuit.
What should I wear under a Rooster Aquafleece?
For most dinghy sailing, wear your Aquafleece over a wetsuit or hikers in place of a spray top. On cold days, add a thermal base layer such as Rooster PolyPro underneath. In milder weather a rash vest is plenty. The fleece lining is soft against the skin, so it is comfortable however you layer it.
How does the Rooster Aquafleece fit and what size should I choose?
Both tops are designed to fit close to the body. The Classic is a slim fit, while the Pro Lite is a little looser at the hips with an adjustable waist. If you prefer a roomier fit or plan to layer underneath, go up one size. Unisex, women's and junior sizes are available.
