A Laser left uncovered fades, fills with rainwater and wears at every fitting, and over a winter on the trailer or in the dinghy park that damage adds up. A properly fitting cover keeps UV, rain and dirt off the hull and deck, so the boat looks after itself between sails and holds its value for longer.
We make our own Laser and ILCA covers here, patterned to the boat so they fit properly rather than sitting loose, and we back them with a 5 year guarantee. The range covers hard wearing PVC top covers in blue and grey, a breathable AquaMax top cover for storage, a nylon under cover for road travel, and top and under cover packages that pair the two for full protection. Alongside our own covers we also stock Gorilla Sailing covers and bags for the Laser and ILCA, including the Hydralite top cover, Grid Lock hull under cover, foil and combi bags and mast bags, so you can choose the setup that suits how you sail and store the boat.
As dinghy sailors ourselves, we know the difference a cover that actually fits makes, and that a wet, unprotected boat is a miserable start to a session. If you are not sure which cover or package suits how you store or travel with your Laser, call us on 01268 222912 and we will point you the right way. Order before 2pm Monday to Friday and we will ship in stock items the same day.

Will a Laser cover fit an ILCA dinghy?
Yes, a Laser cover fits an ILCA dinghy, because the Laser and ILCA share the same hull. The different names and rig sizes, including the ILCA 4, ILCA 6 and ILCA 7 and the older Laser 4.7, Radial and Standard, only affect the sail and lower mast. Our covers are patterned for the hull, so one cover fits them all.
Should I choose a PVC or breathable Laser cover?
Choose a PVC Laser cover if you want a fully waterproof, hard wearing cover that wipes clean and offers great value. Choose a breathable cover if your boat stays covered for long periods, as the fabric lets moisture escape, which reduces condensation and mildew underneath. Both keep rain, UV, leaves and dirt off your deck and cockpit.
Do I need an under cover for my Laser?
You need an under cover if you trail your Laser or travel to events, as it protects the hull from road grime, stone chips and scratches. It also shields the gelcoat from UV when the boat is stored upside down or on a rack. For a boat that stays in the dinghy park, a top cover alone is usually enough.
Who makes Sailing Chandlery Laser covers?
Sailing Chandlery Laser covers are made by us and patterned specifically for the Laser and ILCA hull, so they fit snugly without sagging or pooling water. Each top cover has an opening for the bow eye and painter, so the boat can stay tied down with the cover on. We also stock Gorilla covers and bags for sailors who prefer that range.
How long does a Laser cover take to arrive?
Delivery depends on the cover you choose. Covers shown as made to order are produced for you, with a lead time of 10 to 20 days. Other covers are sent from stock. Each product page shows whether a cover is made to order, so check before you buy if you need it for a particular event or the start of winter.
