Mens Zhik Hydrophobic Fleece Performance Top

This sits in the gap most sailors struggle to fill: warmer than a thin baselayer, but nothing like as restrictive as a wetsuit top. For autumn and spring sailing, when you need warmth without losing movement, it is hard to beat.

The fabric is polypropylene, which repels water at the fibre itself rather than soaking it up. That matters more than it sounds. A fleece that absorbs water turns heavy and cold and stays that way for the rest of the session, whereas this sheds it, stays light and dries quickly. Because the repellency is part of the fibre rather than a coating on top, it does not wash out after a season of rinsing and drying.

On top of that, Zhik has added a PFAS-free Durable Water Repellency treatment to boost the surface repellency without the chemistry the industry is moving away from.

Inside is a soft brushed fleece that holds warmth and feels good against bare skin, so it works worn on its own. Four-way stretch means it moves with you when you are hiking, tacking or hauling on a kicker rope, and the rolled neckline sits flat with nothing to rub through a long session. The seams are flatlock stitched with water-resistant thread, which keeps them comfortable under a buoyancy aid and cuts down how much water the top holds.

Wear it as a baselayer under a spray top or drysuit, or on its own on a milder day. It suits paddling, rowing and general watersports as much as dinghy sailing, so it earns its place in the kit bag year round.

Any order placed by 2pm UK time will leave us the same working day unless there is a lead time which we detail on the product page. We do not ship over the weekend or on bank holidays for one simple reason - we love to go sailing as much as you do.

We try to treat delivery as a pass through cost and keep the cost to you as low as possible, on top of our already competitive product prices.

We offer free UK standard delivery for orders over £95 which includes most items. This does not include boats, trailers, trolleys, masts, booms, rig packages and large items which can't be sent via standard mail as they are too large.

Boats, trollies and trailers - These items cannot be sent using a post service, they have to be collected or delivered by our van. We are based in the UK, deliveries sent outside of the UK may be subject to duties and tax on import.

What is the quantity for ropes?

We sell rope by the metre, the quantity is in metres. If you order 5 items you will receive one 5 metre continuous length of that specific rope.

How quickly will you send my order?

We work Monday to Friday excluding bank holidays and pride ourselves on our speed of dispatch. If the item is in stock and available we dispatch any orders received by 2pm the same working day.

We do show a lead time on some products, that information is clearly stated on the product page and in the description. Need it faster? Give us a call on 01268 222912, we are always happy to help where we can.

What happens if I need to return or exchange?

You have 90 days to return a product for a refund or exchange.

Please do read the product descriptions in full, some items we cannot accept for returns or come with a restocking charge due to them being custom or clearance items.
