Product Information

  • Gill Junior 3 Season Sailing Gloves - Black

Cold, sore hands end a sailing session faster than almost anything else. The Gill Junior 3 Season Sailing Gloves are full-finger gloves built for young sailors in spring and autumn, when it is too cold for bare hands but not yet time for heavy winter neoprene.

Lightweight neoprene keeps hands warm even when wet, and the Dura-Grip palm gives proper purchase on wet sheet ropes. That grip matters for kids: a smaller hand generates less force, so a glove that slips makes hiking and sheeting harder work than it needs to be.

Gill has put the detail where children notice it. There are no seams at the fingertips, which is where most kids' gloves rub and cause complaints. The palm protection wraps around rather than being joined at the sides, so there is no ridge digging in when they grip. The pre-shaped fingers follow the natural curve of a closed hand instead of forcing it flat.

The cuff is longer than usual so it tucks under a wetsuit sleeve or spray top and keeps water out of the wrist. The fingertips work with a touchscreen, which is handy for a coach's phone or a timing app.

They suit far more than dinghy sailing: paddleboarding, kayaking, windsurfing and a morning's fishing all count. Rinse them in fresh water after use and never put them away damp and they will see out a few seasons.

One point to be honest about: these are a three season glove, not a deep winter one. For frostbite series racing in January, a thicker winter glove is the better call.
