Marlow Ropes are a UK manufacturer of quality ropes for sailing and many other applications including defence and climbing.
Sailing Chandlery, or Dinghy Rope as we were then known, started out by selling Marlow Rope. An initial order of 5 rope reels and some smaller items started off the business which we've grown to be today.
In this article we are going to look at what we feel are the most popular Marlow ropes for dinghy sailing.
A popular with dinghy sailors Marlow D12 is a 12 strand dyneema SK78 rope that's very easy to splice.
It can be used for most tasks on your boat where strength is needed, it's popular for purchase systems, backstays, trapeze lines and kicker systems.
Marlow D12 is also available in MAX versions which are heat sealed and pre stretched dyneema ropes, giving you more strength and less creep in the rope when it's under pressure.

A World leader for dinghy control lines. Marlow Excel control rope is available in 4mm and 5mm diameters and can be spliced into a continuous control line system so you don't have to worry about running out of rope.
Some people don't like this rope, others love it, we recommend trying it.
The rope has a lightweight core and a durable Technora and polyester cover for high strength and abrasion resistance.

Marlow Excel Fusion has an SK78 dyneema core, can be tapered down easily and has a blended cover which provides really good abrasion resistance through blocks, especially ratchet blocks and cleats.

A newer product from Marlow which sailors are still waiting to upgrade to.
This is an excellent performance rope which is designed for superb grip when wet. We are seeing it popular for halyards and critical control lines, it's also available in larger diameters for sheets but we think it's a bit stiff for that.
The Marlow R8 rope has a Dyneema® SK78 core which can be tapered easily, and has an 8 plait cover made from Technora® aramid and polyester.

Cover arrived after three days and is well made and completely covers the boat boom up . The straps and clips all work fine. Good product.
My local chandlery were unable to supply a white inspection hatch and so it was amatter of looking online. Sailing Chandlery had the cover I needed in stock at a good price and delivery. I had never used them before but the service I received was excellent with the delivery on time and the hatch is now fitted.
