At the end of 2017, the company that was then Dinghy Rope (now Sailing Chandlery) ventured into a new market of supplying boat covers.
We initially started quite small just offering a few simple covers in both PVC and a breathable polycotton material.
Since launch our boat covers have been very successful and we're now shipping a good few every week for a range of boats big and small. For example this week we've sold boat covers for Lasers, Toppers and an A Class catamaran.
Our most popular boat covers are:
Our boat covers are all made in the UK and come with a number of features:
PVC polyester boat covers are the standard and are thicker and heavier and have a more shiny finish.
Polycotton boat covers are the best for your boat for a number of reasons. The cotton fibres in the polycotton boat covers blend and swell when they become wet. This helps to make the fabric more waterproof the wetter it becomes. As the boat cover dries, the fibres shrink allowing moisture to evaporate away from the boat.
The 50/50 polycotton fabric combines the strength of the polyester with the breathable nature of the cotton.
Although more expensive, the cotton gives the material its unique breathable characteristics. Other benefits also include:
We've made it easy to find your relevant boat cover by dividing them into categories:
There are different covers available and some boats have different options including flat covers, boom up and under covers.
All covers are made to order and have a 10-15 working day lead time, although most of the time this is quicker. We also hold some of the more popular covers in stock.
