D-ZERO Sailing Dinghy

The D-Zero was first designed by Dan Holman in 2014 and has been a popular single handed boat ever since with competitive racing at clubs and also on the UK circuit.


This compact 4.2m long dinghy has a modern look to it and comes with carbon spars and two rig options.


Sailing Chandlery can now supply you with a new D-Zero and currently have a selection of used D-Zero dinghies available too.

  • Beam: 1.42m
  • Draft: 0.38m
  • Hull Weight: 43kg
  • Sail Design: North Sails One Design
  • Sail area: 
    • Grey rig: 8.1 m2 semi soft kevlar laminate sail on halyard
    • Reduced Blue rig: 6.9 m2 semi soft kevlar laminate sail on halyard
  • Raking: Simple and effective adjustment via chocks
  • Spars: CompoTech carbon mast and boom
  • Hardware: Harken Blocks and Cleats throughout
  • Portsmouth Yardstick / Great Lakes Handicap Ratings:
    Grey Rig  – 1029 (RYA PY List 2023) / 1043 (Great Lakes 2023)
  • Reduced Rig  – Under review with RYA & GL, though likely 1059

Sailor Weight Range:

  • Grey Rig – 60kg – 110kg+. There is no set upper or lower limits, though control may be more difficult if less than 60kg.
  • Reduced Rig – 70kg and under.
