The 22mm block from Harken, also known as the Micro block is a range of low-friction pulley blocks which are compact and lightweight.
Harken 22mm blocks are ideal for sailboards, smaller dinghies, and lightly loaded control lines on boats of all sizes. 22mm Micro block sheaves run on ball bearing systems to allow for fast trim and release under any load.
The Harken 22mm block comes in various designs and with the outer plates made from high strength stainless steel. You can expect breaking loads of up to 544kgs.

Some frequently asked questions that other customers have asked us about Harken 22mm Blocks.
What are Harken 22mm blocks and what are they used for?
Harken 22mm blocks, also known as the Micro block range, sit just above the 16mm blocks in the Harken lineup and are one of the most versatile and widely used blocks in dinghy sailing. The 22mm refers to the sheave diameter — slightly larger than the 16mm, which means they handle a broader range of rope sizes and slightly higher loads while remaining impressively compact and light. You'll find them used across a huge variety of applications: cunninghams, outhauls, vangs, traveller controls, barberhaulers, inside masts and booms, lead car returns, and lightly loaded control lines on larger yachts. With a breaking load of up to 544kg and a maximum working load of 91kg, they punch well above their weight for such a small block.
What makes Harken 22mm micro blocks different from other small blocks?
What sets Harken 22mm blocks apart is the quality of the bearing system inside them. The sheave runs on Delrin ball bearings that are UV-stabilised with carbon black for long-term durability in the marine environment, and the sideplates are high-strength stainless steel — which is why they can achieve that impressive 544kg breaking load despite being such a compact fitting. A lot of cheaper blocks at this size use plain bearings or a simple axle, which creates noticeably more friction and makes your control lines harder to trim. With Harken 22mm blocks, the system runs freely under any load, which means less effort and more precise sail control — and that's true whether you're racing or just making life on the water a little easier.
What rope size is compatible with Harken 22mm micro blocks?
Harken 22mm blocks will accept rope up to a maximum diameter of 6mm, which makes them a step up from the 16mm blocks that max out at 5mm. In practice, that means they work well with most of the control lines you'd find on a small to medium dinghy — typically in the 4mm to 6mm range. As with any block, it's important not to push a rope that's too thick through the sheave; it adds friction, makes the system harder to use, and can cause premature wear on both the rope and the block. If your lines are comfortably within the 6mm limit, a 22mm block will serve you well. If you're working with thicker rope, it's worth stepping up to the 29mm Carbo range instead.
