When it comes to looking for new control lines on your boat there is a lot of different options from different manufacturers. For now, we are just going to look at 3 different options from Kingfisher which are our most popular. You can explore our huge range of sailing ropes here.
Available in 3mm, 4mm, 5mm and 6mm diameters.
Evolution Performance is a low stretch polyester core rope that has a hard-wearing 16 plait cover. Performance is one of the most budget friendly and most popular ropes we sell as it can be used on anything from your painter to your sheets. This rope is good for applications on lower performance boats where the loads are not as high and controls are not as regularly adjusted.
This rope is ideal for controls on training boats like Picos, Mirrors, Cadets and Lasers.
Kingfisher Evolution Performance
Available in 4mm and 5mm diameter.
Evolution Breeze is a higher end rope than performance. Its easy splice characteristics and Technora cover allow it to be used on continuous control lines. This rope is also substantially stronger with about 4x the breaking strain of Performance. Its strength and structure comes from the multifilament polypropylene core and Technora cover.
This ropes melange style cover isn't just for appearance it also gives the rope a good abrasion resistance due to the way the fibres are threaded.
This rope is ideal for use in continuous deck controls and control systems.
Available in 2mm, 3mm, 4mm, 5mm and 6mm diameters
Evolution Race is the most expensive out of the 3 ropes but this rope is a Dyneema based rope and the 4mm variation is our most popular rope.
The race rope is made up of a Dyneema SK78 12 Strand Core with a hard wearing polyester outer cover, similar to the Evolution Breeze rope. This rope comes in a wide variety of colours as it can be used almost everywhere on your boat from your Mainsheet in 6mm to your Cunningham in 4mm and Halyard in 5mm. The wide range of colours allows you to differentiate between the lines on your boat whilst still having the same great rope.
This rope is ideal for Control Lines, Halyards, Kickers, Backstays and General use.

These blocks are a nice balance between quality and weight - I needed something light for jib sheet clew blocks as I didn’t want too much weight hanging on the corner, and it needed to run smoothly (and stay running smoothly) - these fit bill nicely. The sheave is also more protected than other blocks where the edges can get chewed up where they hit the mast.
